Henry's Carnival is in Town

Come One, Come All,  to Celebrate

Henry's 6th Birthday!

We had tons of fun at our backyard carnival party!

The scene just before the party goers arrived. I was lucky enough to have my cute neighbors help out with the booths.

The bounce house was a last minute addition. So glad we did it! Henry and Nolan jumped their little hearts out before the party even started. Henry wanted to keep it and cried when they came to take it down that night.

When guests arrived, they individualized their bag that would be used to hold their tickets and prizes.
We were lucky enough to have a surprise visit from a very talented clown! Not only could he juggle but he could ride a unicycle!

  Let the games begin!

For every game they played they earned a varied amount of tickets. The games included...

Balloon Dart

A crowd favorite!

Fish out of Water

They had to fish blind-folded. Sharks, stingrays and fish all worth different amounts of tickets.

Lucky Duck

They got to choose two ducks and flip them over to look at the bottom. If they got a match, they won a ticket. The ducks kept tipping over revealing the color on the bottom. Probably wouldn't use this game next time.

Spray Away

I think this was one of Henry's favorite games. If you knocked all of the ping pong balls of the tees using the squirt gun you won two tickets.

 Tatoo Parlor

Ring Toss

This game was much more challenging than I realized. Water bottles filled with colored water and jar rings. Next time I will use soda pop bottles.

 Jelly Bean Jar

Every one earned a ticket just for making a guess of how many jelly beans were in the jelly bean jar. The winner got to keep the jar.

Football Toss

My football disappeared last minute, but the balls worked out well. Two tickets for the upper hoop, one per lower hoop.

Ball Toss Bonanza

This game was my personal favorite. I tested it out one night while Chris was getting the boys to sleep and couldn't stop. The goal was to toss the ping pong ball into the glasses. Red=1 ticket, yellow=2 tickets, blue=3 tickets.

Prizes

The tickets earned playing games could be cashed in  for prizes!

The snow cones, cotton candy and pop corn were a hit. The kids kept coming back for more. They were by far more popular than the toys. It was a lot of fun. It felt like we were playing store. Some of the kids did not want to spend their tickets while others kept coming back for more snow cones.

Cake Time...
The cake was cute but didn't last long. It was a leaning Ferris wheel for sure. Next time I will remember to put more white chocolate in the rice krispie treats than the recipe actually calls for. Oh well, it tasted good!
Popcorn Cupcakes!

Present Time...
More Bounce Time...

Happy Birthday Henry! We love you! You are such a mature and passionate little 6 year old. We spent many hours this summer watching the world cup. We recorded every game and I'm pretty sure you watched every single one. Not only did this intensify your love of the game, and of Messi, but it also peaked your interest in world geography. You would get out the map and find each country playing in the world cup. Our living room is now a soccer field where you and your little brother and your Dad play every night after dinner. You live for Saturday soccer games and are getting to be quite the swimmer. You still love animals and Wild Kratts as much as ever. It has been a fun summer and I am so excited for you to start first grade. I know you will love it!
